The Candlesnuff Fungus are hardy wood-rotting fungi with somewhat cylindrical, club-shaped or flattened fruiting bodies that produce two kinds of spores. The white tips produce asexual spores (conidia) while the sexual spores (ascospores) are produced in embedded receptacles called perithecia on the fruiting body.
